Kinsey Healy

Meet the Director

Mrs. Kinsey Healy, originally from Arkansas and Texas, now calls Tennessee home after earning her Bachelor of Choral Music Education and Master of Music degrees from the University of Memphis. Since 2018, she has served as the Director of Choirs and Tri-M Advisor at Houston High School and fosters a strong culture of community collaboration. Under her leadership, the Houston Choirs have partnered with the University of Memphis, the Germantown Symphony Orchestra, and regional municipalities for Choral Exchanges and Masterworks Concerts. Prior to her time at Houston, she taught at Colonial Creative and Performing Arts Middle School within Memphis Shelby County Schools.

A passionate educator, Mrs. Healy has been a Mentor Teacher for aspiring choral music educators at the University of Memphis since 2020. She is an active member of WTVMEA, ACDA, and NAfME, currently serving as the Secretary for WTVMEA and Co-Chair for the All Southwest Senior High Honor Choir. Mrs. Healy is also an advocate for vocal pedagogy, leading seminars in her community and presenting at the 2022 and 2026 TnMEA All-State Conferences.

Her choirs at Houston High School perform regularly within the community and embark on international tours every other year, with recent destinations including Prague, Vienna, Ireland, and Spain. Mrs. Healy has also served as a church music director and accompanist and previously taught private voice and piano.
