Meet the Director

Kinsey Healy, originally from Arkansas and Texas, earned both her Bachelor of Choral Music Education and Master of Music degrees from the University of Memphis. Since 2018, she has served as Director of Choirs at Houston High School in Germantown, where she cultivates a culture of collaboration and musical excellence. Under her leadership, the Houston Choirs have partnered with the University of Memphis, the Germantown Symphony Orchestra, and regional municipalities to present choral exchanges and large-scale masterworks performances. Healy also serves as advisor to the school’s Tri-M Music Honor Society. Prior to joining Houston High School, she taught at Colonial Creative and Performing Arts Middle School in Memphis-Shelby County Schools.

A passionate educator, Healy has mentored aspiring choral music educators through the University of Memphis since 2020. She is an active member of the West Tennessee Vocal Music Educators Association (WTVMEA), the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). She currently serves as Secretary for WTVMEA and Co-Chair of the All Southwest Senior High Honor Choir.

Healy has led professional development seminars throughout her community and presented sessions at the Tennessee Music Educators Association Conference, including Revisiting Foundations: Refreshing Your Warm-Up Toolbox (2022) and Unseen Barriers: Dyslexia, Sight-Reading, and Equity in Music Education (2026). In 2026, she was honored with both the TnMEA Outstanding Young Music Educator Award and recognition as a CMA Foundation Music Teachers of Excellence recipient, one of 30 educators chosen in the nation.

Her students at Houston High School frequently perform in regional and national honor choirs and the school’s a cappella group recently earned second place at a competition in New York. The Houston Choirs perform regularly throughout the community and embark on international tours every other year, with recent destinations including Ireland, Spain, and Scotland. Beyond the classroom, Healy serves as Co-Artistic Director of Memphis Choral Arts and directs the Memphis Women’s Chorale.
